Applying for an apprenticeship

There are hundreds of apprenticeships you can choose from. Use our find an apprenticeship service to discover the right one for you. If there's an employer you want to work for, visit their website and see if they're looking for apprentices.

Once you've found an apprenticeship you're interested in, you’ll need a CV and cover letter for your application. The National Careers Service has guidance on how to write a CV and how to write a cover letter. You should think about applying for more than one apprenticeship too. This will increase your chances of getting an interview.

After you've applied for an apprenticeship, it's normal to feel a little nervous. Make a note of the closing date for applications. This might help you work out when you could get a response from the employer.

If your application isn't successful, try not to be too disappointed. This is a typical part of applying for an apprenticeship or job and happens to everyone. You might have to apply for several apprenticeships before you find one that's right for you.
